History: the memory palace, by Nate Dimeo (I read his excellent book first; the podcast is also wonderful).
Poetry: Poetry Unbound, with Pádraig Ó Tuama - I’d listen to his dreamy accent reading the phonebook, but his poetry choices and analyses are even better.
This is a great list! Thank you for compiling! I’m excited to start listening to a lot of these. I adore the podcast No Such Thing As A Fish! Every week the hosts discuss four interesting facts that could be about any number of topics (science, history, etc…). All four regular hosts are also a lot of fun.
Thank you! What a great roundup. I would add foodie podcasts. There are many but I enjoy Your Last Meal with Rachel Belle. She deep dives the history of a particular food based on the celebrity guest’s last meal. She’s quirky and that’s what I like about it 😊.

I second The Memory Palace, I've been listening for years and it has never disappointed!
This list rules!! Thank you for compiling these, I can't wait to give a bunch of them a listen!
For music, Switched on Pop (they’re here on Substack, too!). They break down trends and sounds in music, lyrics and visuals. They do a great job.
Thanks for this list! I would recommend Ologies, each episode the host interviews an expert in a different field and asks questions from listeners
Looooove Maintenance Phase & If Books Could Kill & Binchtopia

Will check some of these out! A couple of my fave podcasts are You're Dead To Me (comedy history), and This Is History
The Secret Life of Books is erudite, insightful and entertaining. Can highly recommend!

Thanks! I haven’t tried that one yet.
